Abstract
The assessment of the quality of life in psychiatry is a complex and differentiated process. Different authors have conceived varions theoretical models of the quality of life. Psychotropical medication influnces the subjective state of well-being, the objective functioning in social roles, the material and social conditions of life. The prevention of relapse is to practitioners a central aspect of the therapeutical algoritm because relapses signify a worsening of the social situation. An important part is played by the symbolical implication of the pharmacological treatment on the way of life.
