1. Scope and article types
TPCT publishes: Original research (up to 4,000 words, 6 tables/figures, 50 references, structured abstract of up to 250 words); Systematic reviews and meta-analyses (registered in PROSPERO, PRISMA-compliant); Narrative reviews (up to 6,000 words, 100 references, unstructured abstract); Short communications (up to 1,500 words, 2 tables/figures, 20 references); Case reports and case series (CARE-compliant, up to 2,000 words, written consent to publish, structured abstract, a clear teaching message); Editorials and commentaries (by invitation); Letters to the editor (up to 800 words, 10 references). Abstracts and keywords (4–6, preferably Medical Subject Headings, MeSH) are mandatory for all types except letters.
2. Before you submit
Confirm that the manuscript is original, not under consideration elsewhere and approved by all authors; that ethics approval, informed consent, trial registration and the reporting-guideline checklist are in hand; that all authors meet the ICMJE authorship criteria and have ORCID iDs (mandatory for the corresponding author); and that funding, competing interests, data availability and any use of generative artificial intelligence are ready to be declared. Identify preprints, related manuscripts, prior conference abstracts and overlapping datasets in the cover letter.
3. Submission
Manuscripts are submitted by e-mail to submissions@therapeutics.ro (an online submission system is planned for 2027) as a single Word (.docx) file containing title page, abstract, main text, references, tables and figure legends, with figures as separate files (TIFF/PNG/JPEG at 300 dpi or more; vector formats for graphs). Do not e-mail identifiable patient records; the editorial office provides a secure method if confidential supporting documents are needed. Attach the signed Form A (Author Declaration) and, for case reports, confirm that Form C (consent to publish) is held by the authors. A cover letter must state the article type, confirm originality and exclusive submission, name up to three suggested reviewers with institutional e-mail addresses, and name any reviewers to be excluded (with reasons). The corresponding author receives an acknowledgement with a manuscript number within three working days.
Forms to sign
Three forms accompany the manuscript. Complete them in Word or print them, sign (scanned or electronic signatures are accepted) and send them as attachments together with the manuscript. Forms A and C are sent at submission; Form B is completed on acceptance.
- Form A – Author Declaration and Authorship Statement (all authors sign): authorship (ICMJE criteria), originality, ethics, competing interests, funding, data availability, use of artificial intelligence, CRediT contributions. Download (PDF) · Word
- Form B – Licence to Publish and Open Access Agreement (corresponding author signs on behalf of all authors, on acceptance): authors retain copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive licence; publication under CC BY 4.0. Download (PDF) · Word
- Form C – Consent to Publish Patient Information (case reports and any identifiable material; English and Romanian versions in one file): signed by the patient or legal representative and retained by the authors, provided to the journal on request. Download (PDF) · Word
Reporting-guideline checklists (CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, STARD, CARE, ARRIVE, SPIRIT) are downloaded from the EQUATOR Network; ethics committee approvals are sent as a copy of the approval letter.
4. Manuscript structure
Title page: full title (no abbreviations), running title (up to 60 characters), full names, highest degrees, ORCID iDs and affiliations of all authors, corresponding author’s postal and e-mail address, word count, and the declarations listed in section 5. Abstract: structured for original research and systematic reviews (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions). Main text for original research: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions. Methods must give the ethics committee name and approval number, the trial registration number, the sample-size rationale, statistical methods and software, the handling of missing data, and, for drugs and devices, generic names, manufacturers, doses and routes. Report effect estimates with confidence intervals, not only P values, and distinguish prespecified from exploratory analyses. Use SI units; define abbreviations at first use; give generic drug names (brand names in parentheses at first mention only).
5. Declarations (mandatory in every article)
Ethics approval and consent to participate; Consent for publication (case reports and identifiable material); Availability of data and materials; Competing interests; Funding, including the funder’s role; Authors’ contributions (CRediT roles); Acknowledgements; Use of artificial intelligence (state “none” if none). Use “Not applicable” only with a brief justification; no heading may be left empty.
6. References
Vancouver style, numbered in order of first citation in the text, with DOIs where available; the journal’s own abbreviation is Ther Pharmacol Clin Toxicol; list all authors up to six, then “et al.”; cite only published or accepted work; do not cite generative artificial-intelligence tools as sources. Example: Author AA, Author BB, Author CC. Title of article. Journal Name. 2025;12(3):100-110. doi:10.xxxx/xxxxx
7. Tables and figures
Number in order of citation; each table on a separate page with a title and footnotes for abbreviations; figures with legends that make them intelligible without the text; permission for any reproduced material submitted with the manuscript; patient images anonymised and covered by written consent. Image manipulation beyond uniform adjustment of brightness or contrast is not permitted.
8. Language
Manuscripts are published in English (British or American spelling used consistently). Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have the manuscript checked before submission; the journal may require professional language editing before acceptance.
9. Reporting guidelines
Follow and upload the checklist for CONSORT (randomised trials), STROBE (observational studies), PRISMA (systematic reviews), STARD (diagnostic accuracy), CARE (case reports), ARRIVE (animal studies) or SPIRIT (protocols), as listed by the EQUATOR Network.
10. Peer review and decisions
See the Peer review process page. Authors receive anonymised reviewer reports with the decision and are asked to respond point by point; the time allowed is four weeks for minor and eight weeks for major revision.
11. After acceptance
Articles are copy-edited and typeset; proofs must be returned within three working days; only errors may be corrected at proof. Each article is published online in the current issue; Crossref DOIs are being introduced (see Archiving and repository policy). Authors retain copyright and publish under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0) (see Open access, licence, copyright and fees).
12. Fees
TPCT charges no submission or publication fees.
13. Corrections and retractions
Authors who discover a significant error must contact the editorial office; see Corrections, retractions and expressions of concern on the Editorial Policies page.
