Aims and scope
Therapeutics, Pharmacology and Clinical Toxicology (TPCT) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes original research, systematic and narrative reviews, clinical case reports, short communications and editorials on the safe and effective use of medicines and on the diagnosis and management of poisoning.
Priority areas are clinical pharmacology and therapeutics; pharmacovigilance and drug safety; pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics; pharmacogenomics and personalised pharmacotherapy; drug utilisation and rational prescribing; clinical and analytical toxicology; antidotes and poisoning management; and evidence-based therapeutic protocols across medical specialties. Experimental pharmacology papers are welcome when they carry a clear translational message.
Clinical relevance and methodological quality are assessed independently of whether results are positive, negative or inconclusive. Regional studies should explain what readers in other health systems can learn from their setting. Narrative reviews must state a defined question, a critical synthesis and a transparent account of how the literature was selected. Promotional material and unsupported therapeutic claims are not accepted as scholarly articles.
The journal serves clinicians, pharmacologists, toxicologists, pharmacists and health-policy specialists, with a particular interest in data from Central and Eastern Europe that are under-represented in the international literature.
Ownership and publisher
TPCT is the official journal of the Romanian Society of Pharmacology (Societatea Română de Farmacologie). It is published by Editura R.P. SRL, 28 Amidonului Street, 023808 Bucharest, Romania. Editorial decisions are taken by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial board independently of the publisher, of the society’s leadership and of any production or communications company working for the journal (see the Editorial independence statement on the Editorial Board page).
Publication frequency and model
TPCT publishes four issues a year, at the end of March, June, September and December. Every article displays its received, accepted and online publication dates. All content is open access from the day of publication under a Creative Commons licence (see Open access, licence, copyright and fees); a printed edition is available by subscription. The journal charges no submission fees and no article processing charges.
Journal history
The journal was founded in June 1994 as Terapeutica, published by the Societatea Terapeutica in collaboration with the Academy of Medical Sciences and Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest. From 1997 it has appeared as Therapeutics, Pharmacology and Clinical Toxicology (ISSN 1583-0012; online ISSN 2066-0170), and it was covered by Scopus for the volumes published in 2011–2012 and 2014–2016. Publication was interrupted between 2019 and 2024. In March 2025 the Romanian Society of Pharmacology relaunched the journal with Volume 23, a renewed editorial board and a fully open-access model; the digitised back archive (1994–2018) is freely available on this site. Volume numbering follows the 1997 series; the 1994–1996 issues carry the numbering of Terapeutica.
Language
All articles are published in English. Authors may add a Romanian abstract to the English abstract.

The journal follows the Recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, WAME).
