Abstract

The KS is the most frequent cancer encountered on patients with AIDS. At present, there are a lot of treatment methods: x-ray treatment, chimiotherapy, antiviral therapy (anti-HHV8 and anti-HIV), local therapy. Some studies are coming off for estimating new therapeutic methods. The treatment indications vary with the clinical-evolutive form of KS and with the intensity of immune deficit. In this way, while the strict coutaneus lesions can be cured by using the local therapy, the extensive form of KS placed at skin and mucous membrane and the visceral form necessary require a sistemic chimiotherapy. The association between antiretroviral therapy and chimiotherapy causes a durable clinical recovery and a significant growth of the rate of survival, even in the multivisceral form of KS. So, after getting a good viral and immune answer under HAART, the specific chimiotherapy of KS can be ceased without the risk of relapse.
