Abstract

The most frequent complication in the course of schizophrenia is depression which is very difficult to differentiate from neuroleptic – induced depressions. Two therapeutic options were studied in the treatment of this kind of depression: TCA’s (lmipramine, Amitryptiline) and selective serotonine – recapture inhibitors (Fluoxetine). Fluoxetine, due to its pharmacodynamic actions, is the first choice antidepressant agent in the treatment of depressive mood to schizophrenic patients.
