Abstract
The authors present a review of the current therapeutic methods in infantile spasms. The following therapies are reviewed: hormone therapy (ACTH, steroid therapy), conventional anticonvulsant agents with proved efficacy in infant spasms, new anticonvulsant drugs (i.e. Vigabatrin). Other therapeutic measures with less proven efficacy are also presented, like B , vitamin and i.v. immunoglobulins. Surgical treatment is reserved for those cases refractory to the medical treatment and is discussed at the end of the article.
