Abstract
The activity of Cefuroxim (Zinacef-Glaxo), against 126 different bacterial strains isolated from patients was tested using both the dilution and the diffusimetric method. Zinacef appears to be highly effective against staphylococcus and gram-negative anaerobic and aerobic bacilli, except for Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The determinated seric and urinary levels showed efficient concentrations against the susceptible organisms. The clinical study included 50 patients with severe and moderate infections and the results were appreciated as good and very good in 84% of cases.
