Abstract
Classical, 4 weeks is the minimal course of antimicrobial therapy for infectious endocarditi s, consequence of difficulties in penetration into vegetations. However , actually same medical and economical arguments – diminution of side-effects risks (with a comparable efficiency) and diminution of costs (for therapy and hospitalisation) – sustains short-course of therapy (2 weeks); this alternative is feasible in some selected patients, which are detalied in the article.
