Abstract
Adverse reactions to drugs affect the skin, but only small fractions are life-threatening or lead to sequelae. For many severe cutaneous reactions to drugs, medical interventions is limited to early recognition of the symptoms and the withdrawal of the offending drug. Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell syndrome are two related mucocutaneous disorders with high rates of morbidity and mortality.
