Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic, genetically influenced, remitting and relapsing erythrosquamous skin disorder that affects 1 to 3% of the world’s population. Although rarely life-threatening, the disease has a serious social and economic impact. Recently, progress has been made in understanding the pathogenesis of psoriasis, and therapeutic advances are improving the care of even severely affected patients. Although there is no cure of psoriasis, an increasing number of topical and systemic drugs are available. Availability of more treatment optionts allows the patient’s lifestyle as well as the clinical manifestations of the disease to be taken into account in choosing therapy.
