Abstract
This article updates the etiology of respiratory tract, head and neck infections at children in order to emphasize both the prevalence of virusal infections (which don’t need antibiotics; in current practice, the misuse of antibiotics is an frequent error) and the hierarchy of etiologies varying with the localization, age and underground, so that to realize an effective therapy. In the first part we make a short presentation of factors and mechanisms which lead to infection, underlining the importance of promoting factors which belong to both, host and environment. The second part of the essay is an overview of the etiology of upper airways, head and neck infections (otitis, sinusitis) and of lower airways infections, mentioning the features of the etiology varying with the localization, age and underground.
