Abstract
The 5 α Reductase role in androgens metabolism consists in their transformation in dihidrotestosterone – the only active form at prostate’s level. Its congenital absence determines male pseudohermaphroditism. In prostate adenoma its inhibition by Finasteride constitues an alternative to medical treatment.
