Abstract
Gastro-intestinal disorders are the most frequent side effects of antibiotic therapy. In this article they are classified as follows: a) pseudomembranos colitis-less frequent but very serious; ocurring due to lincosamids or broad spectrum betalactamines, by intestinal proliferation of toxic-producing Clostridium difficile. b) minor diarrhoreas; c) dyspeptic syndrome much more frequent but less serious, ocurring after any antibiotic which may after the normal enteric flora or may disturb the motor or secretory gastro-intestinal functions. The most recent progress in physiopathology, diagnosis and treatment of pseudomembranes colitis are pointed up.
