Abstract
The authors synthetise the present data about the use of corticosteroids in CAAH. The effects of prolonged corticotherapy in mild forms of CAAH are not yet well established. In severe forms of CAAH. with bridging necrosis. multilobular necrosis or associated postnecrotic cirrhosis, corticosteroids have a firm indication: they prolongs life and dalay (but they do not stop) the evolutions to cirhosis. Different therapeutic schemas are critically presented. The evolution of CAAH treated with corticosteroids is presented in comparison with the untreated cases and also the adverse effects of corticosteroids.
