Abstract
The treatment of severe enterococcal infection is an important challenge for clinicians, several factors appear to be involved, including the multiple resistances characteristics of many enterococci, heavy use of antimicrobial agents to wich this organisms are resistant and incrising numbers of seriously ill and debilitated patients in hospitals. This study included 12 patients with systemic enterococcal infections admitted in our clinic between2002-2006. The purpose of our study was the evaluation of predisposing factors to severe enterococcal infection and evolution under therapy with antibiotics.
