Abstract

Until recently, important ettorts were performed in order to find some new effective antiretroviral drugs, the results being not entirely satisfactory because of the complexity of the viral cycle and fast promotion of the genie mutation. More recent studies (occured during the past 2 years), however, have described some important advances concearning: replication kinetics of HIV, the development of assays to determine the plasma viral loas, the availability of several new drugs. The therapy requires: inhibitors of RT and protease inhibitors, and, in addition, immunostimulating agents. The recomandation for antiretroviral therapy were convened: when to start therapy, when to change it and what drugs provide more substantial effects. The special states such as: primary infection, post-exposure prophylaxis and prevention of vertical transmission requires particular therapeutical decisions. The conventional tratament failure was a reason for multiple studies about the availability of genie therapy.
