Abstract

Coarctation of the aorta is a congenital heart defect, involving a narrowing of the descending thoracic aorta (hemodynamically significant), most likely located distal from the left subclavian artery, at the origin of the arterial ligament. This article discusses the characteristics of the coarctation of the aorta in newborns and the treatment options.
