Abstract
Cetirizine (Zyrtec) is a new antihistaminic drug non sedating having supplementary antiallergic properties, referring to the inhibition of adhesion molecules exprimation and of migration of eosinophils to the site of allergic reaction. Its clinical indications a mainly: allergic (seasonal and perennial) rhinitis and urticaria (histaminic ar idiopathic chronic urticaria) but they have enlarged with mild forms of allergic asthma and physical urticaria. The good tolerance (lack of sedation, arrhythmic effects and of interference with other drugs) and also its simple administration (single daily dose 10 mg in adults and 5 mg in children) are completed by real and large therapeutical benefits.
