Abstract
Cefuroxim-axetil is a semisynthetic broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic for oral administration. It has bacterial activity against a wide range of common pathogens, including many beta-lactamase-producting strains. Cefuroxim-axetil is stable to many bacterial beta lactamases, especially plasmid-mediated enzymes that are commonly found in enterobacteriaceae. We studied the clinical and laboratory efficacy of cefuroxim-axetil on 112 patients with acute infections of respiratory and urinary tract, and acute uncomplicated infections of skin and soft tissues: The results obtained (clinical improvement in 82,14% of cases) recommend cefuroxim-axetil as an effective and well tolerated antibiotic.
