Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the benefits of TPN and its oportunity in future. The results of this analisys is: TPN is now applied in a few particular and well documented cases and its used for a short time (such as: Crohn disease, total/large bowell rezections, E.T.H.). Because of high costs of TPN it was evaluated the raports cost-benefits in relationship with enteral nutrition and complications related to the way of administrations (central venous catheter) and to the parenteral solutions. In conclusion: enteral nutrition is preferable to TPN and is useful to be applied as soon as possible.
