Abstract

The most important Synthetical retinoids – the ethretinate (Tigason) and the isothretinoine (Roaccutane) represent an important progress in the medical attendance of some dermatological diseases. The ethretinate has convenient effects in psoriasis (60-70%), but it is also useful in other diseases. (ichtiosis, Darier-disease, palmo-plantar keratodermitis). The retinoids are strictly contraindicated in pregnant women (theratogenity). The pregnancy is also contraindicated for 2 years from the end of the treatment. The isothretinoine is indicated in severe forms of acne; the drug presents theratogen risk. Other retinoids introduced in therapeutics: acitretine (Neotigason) – useful in psoriasis, arotinoids – indicated in oncology and topical retinoids.
