Abstract
Infectious diarrhea is one of the major infectious diseases in the world. Although many microbes are associated with it, three emerging pathogens have been responsible for recent large outbreaks in developed countries. These pathogens are the two coccidia, Cryptosporidium parvum and Cyclospora and the bacteria Escherichia coli 0157:H7. The epidemiology, microbiology, clinical manifestations associated with each of these emerging pathogens, as well as the treatment are discussed.
