Abstract

Oxytocin induces contraction after stimulating specific membranal receptors, coupled with G proteins. The activation of these proteins starts the cell signaling systems, from which, the most important is PLC complex. It hydrolyses PIP2 to IP3 and DAG. IP3 mobilizes calcium from internal stores and contraction begins. This is the common mechanism of contraction for all ocytocic agents used. We studied the role of IP by blocking its fixation on the specific receptors with heparin and by stimulating the receptors with exogen IP3. The results were different.
