Abstract

The efforts to develop vaccines against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) are major priorities because the explosive worldwide extension of HIV-infection. The components of HIV-1 have been studied, but the specific immune responses lacks of understanding, because the antigenic diversity of HIV-1, and absence of suitable animal model. We described the types of candidate AIDS vaccine and the results of experience about safety and immunogenicity in humans, and also about immunotherapy for HIV-infected persons. The promising results by stimulation of neutralizing antibodies have been obtained with recombinant gp 120 vaccines. It need to provide additional data on candidate vaccine in human populations.
