Abstract

War and infectious diseases have always been closely linked. Biological warfare – Biote rrorism is now a real possibility and subjects related to the diagnosis, epidemiology, prophylaxis and treatment of infectious disease have made the news. Biological agents are very different: Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium botulinum, Yersinia pestis , Francisella tularensis and viruses (smallpox, viral hemorragic fevers). No country was full preparedness for biological war. The scientific community and biotechnological industry are influential factors against the proliferation of biological war agents.
