Abstract
Dopaminergic assumption in the schizophrenia etyopathology has always been mentioned and proven. The improvement in the positive symptomatology after the administration of dopaminergic antagonists has confirmed the existence of a dopaminergic hyperactivity. The treatment of the negative symptomatology of schizophrenia is a controversial and insufficiently argued issue. The emergence of atypical antipsychotic agents, by their specific mechanisms of action, seems to solve this problem. A new terminology imposed by neurochemical mechanisms of action of the new antipsychotic agents is born at present in the psychopharmacology. A new nosography in the psycho-pharmacology seems to be necessary.
