Abstract

Penicillin resistence in pneumococci, often associated to resistence to other antibiotics, represents nowadays an important problem of Public Health. Our study, conducted over a 5 year’s period aimed resistence the establishement of the pattern of invasive pneumococci, isolated in Bucharest. The results showed a high level of penicillin resistence: 30,4% by diffusimetric method. We compared our results with the data from the Center of Reference for Streptococci, concerning the resistence in the early 90’. We noted the evolution trends of the resistence concerning the clinically most used antibiotics and commented their therapeutic implication.
