Abstract
The coexistence of two malignant tumors in the same histological specimen is rare. The collision tumor consisting in basal cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma (malignant basomelanocytic tumor) has been rarely reported, even in this situation. We report a case of an 86 years old woman with a whitish, ulcerated tumor of the left cheek, measuring 3/1.5/0.8 cm. Hist ological examination revealed basal cell carcinoma admixed with amelano tic, nodular malignant melanoma, Breslow index 5.9 mm . Both lesions have primary cutaneous origin. This collision tumor could be interpreted as a tumor with bidirectional keratinocytic and melanocytic differentiation or a coincidence, an extremely rare event.
