Abstract

Tetanus is a disease of the nervous system characterized by persistent tonic spasm, with violent brief exacerbations. Clostridium tetani is an obligate anaerobic bacillus, wich produces tetanospasmin during its growth. This toxin enters the nervous system primarly via the presinaptic terminals of lower motor neurons could be prevented produce local failure of neuromuscular transmission. The treatment of the patients with tetanus is very complex: antimicrobial therapy, oc—I3 adrenergic blockade with intravenous labetalol, endotracheal intubation, benzodiazepine sedation, neuromuscular blockade etc. Tetanus in almost all patients, leading to its description as the „inexcusable disease”.
