In rheumatology, the tegumentary topic substances are classified in revulsive and active substances. The first one produce vasodilation and increase the local temperature, thus reliefing the pain. As for the second one (vehiculation of active substances) its action is foccussed on the inflammatory process of several causes and the behavior of superficial vessels. The steroid and non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs can be administered topic tegumentary, being eficient in treating many rheumatic diseases such as: arthrosis, rheumatic poliarthritis, scapulohumeral periarthritis, bursitis, tendinitis. Among the advantages of this type of treatment it is worth mentioning protecting the digestive tract and eliminating the effects of the first hepatic passage. The tegumentary absorption of this drugs is influenced by factors which depend on the patient (age, condition of the skin) and on the drug {active substance and its vehicle, which can be water, alcohol or lipids). Among the topic non-steroid anti inflammatory drugs Fastum Gel (ketoprofen) has a good tegumentary penetrability.
