Abstract
There were studied 1824 difusimetric antibiograms, processed during 1997, in which there were used cotrimoxazol discs (CTX). Of all bacterian strains, 71,15% were CTX resistant (CTX-R). The bacteria with the highest resistance rate were E. coli, enterobacter, proteus, Shigella flexneri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, klebsiella, Steptococcus pneumonias. The gram negative bacilli were much more frequently CTX resistants than the gram positive cocci. The highest CTX resistance rates were found in germs isolated from urine, feces, otic secretions and CSF. The lowest CTX resistance rates were found in germs isolated from blood, sputum and pharyngeal exudate. In conclusion, CTX must not be used as a first intention antibiotic in pneumococyc meningitis and in urinary or digestive infections. An antibiogram is indispensable.
