Abstract
In the present paper we have studied the susceptibility to antibiotics of 312 Escherichia coli strains isolated from urinary tract infections from patients hospitalized in Emergency Hospital no. 1 Craiova between 1 january 2005 – 1 january 2006. In order to test the susceptibility of the strains to antibiotics, we have used the antibiogram through dif fusimetric method. The susceptibility of Escherichia coli strains was 92,62% to Norfloxacin, 98% to Ciprofloxacin, 99% to Ofloxacin, 6,73% to Ampicillin, 75,34% to Kanamycin, 47,75% to Streptomycin, 92,30% to Gentamicyn, 75% to Chloram phenicol, 45,15% to Tetracycline, 100% to Cefalexine, Cefuroxim and Ceftazidim. 75,95% from the strains was resistant to 2, 3, 4 and 5 antibiotics; the most frequant pattern of resistance was: Sulphametoxazol – Trimethoprim – Ampicillin – Tetracy cline.
