Abstract
The blood level of PCT is used to differentiate between sepsis and noninfectious SIRS. We tryed to evaluate the posible correlation of the blood level of PCT and the outcome of septic patients. We made a retrospective analysis of 129 patients admitted in Matei Bal§ Institute of Infectious diseases, patients with PCT level above 0,5 ng/ml. We correlated PCT values and their trend with: SIRS, MODS and letality. The PCT level >10 ng/ml and the pesistance of high level PCT value represent predictors for bad prognostic in systemic infections.
