Abstract
This serial review concerning apoptosis continues, concisely presenting data regarding the involvement of cell death, in the development of various damages, in different systems and tissues. Cell death through apoptosis is, therefore, examined as a potential generator of pathology. From alterations in morphogenetic programs, (followed by malformations) to abnormal triggering (or, sometime, blocking) natural self-destruction programs, apoptosis does represent a keypoint in „accidental” cell death or, by contrast, in the survival of „unwanted” cells. These data are relevant from the perspective of developing new drug candidates.
