Abstract

The association of chronic hepatitis C with porfiria cutanea tarda was identified in 56-92% of cases. The presence of a full-borne Sjogren syndrome is rare but lymphocytic sialadenitis and capilaritis were reported; the transgenic mice for HCV genes develop a salivary and lacrimal endocrinopathy similar to Sjogren syndrome. Thyroid autoantibodies are identified most frequent in women – common sequences between the epitopes of anti thyroidian peroxidase and the viral protein; the treatment with IFN might precipitate a similar disease to autoimmune thyroiditis. In chronic hepatitis C autoantibodies can be present (ANA, SMA, pANCA, anti ASGP-R). Molecular mimicry may induce autoimmune modifications: the HCV core 178- 187 induced T cytotoxic lymphocytes CDS+ recognize cytochrome P450 2A6 8-17 and P450 2A7 8-17. The association of non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas with HCV infection (10-30% of the cases) was initially sustained by epidemiological studies in some geographic areas; the presen ce of oligo or monoclonal B lymphocytes proliferaitons in patients with chronic hepatitis C and mixed cryoglobulinemia, the presence of HCV infected lymphoid cells (sometimes with active viral replication) in patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, bcl-2 overexpression in portal lymphocytic aggregates in patients with HCV chronic hepatitis and mixed cryoglobulinemia, the presenceof t(14; 18) in peripheral lymphocytes of the HCV infection patients with lymphoproliferative disorders, the HCV infection (active viral replication) of the epithelial cells of the gastric mucosa support this hypothesis. The association of HCV with cryoglobulinemia is controversial and also is the association HGV – membranoproilferat ive glomerulonephritis. Several studies reported an association between non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas and HGV infection.
